[edit] All About My Dog – MovieTruly living up to its name, it’s about the relationship between man and dog. At first glance it looks like a musical, but it’s not really. Each story in the movie tells of different lives of different people and their relationship with dogs. The story that captivated me was the one about the Shibu Inu. I was surprised that a Shibu Inu was about the size of a Beagle. It’s truly sad/comedy/romantic genres combining into one. Now if only my dog can come back from heaven. |
[edit] The Monkey King: Quest For The SutraAlthough this is the 5th adaption of the old
Journey to the West, it’s got more comedy and more adventures thrown into it. The same actor, Dicky Cheung
(Journey to the West Part 1), replays his role as the monkey king. The actors for Piggy, Sandy, and their master Tang Sam
Jong are new when considering who played in Journey to the West Part 1 & 2 and others. However, there is a complaint of
Cantonese VS Mandarin audio used in the later episodes. Most say it sounds better in Cantonese, this is because of the
Monkey King’s often calling out word of swearing. There are two versions on Crunchyroll® one is with Chinese subs, the
other is English. Be careful if you don’t understand the Chinese one. |
[edit] The Cave Of The Yellow DogA Mongolian Documentary, it was amazing to see such beautiful landscapes and the nomadic lives of Mongolia. I have never seen a Mongolian movie before, so this has really been an experiment for me. How a family lives in a quiet land where grass surrounds them. How their oldest daughter, who just started school, found a little dog in a little cave. Her father hated it though, since he’s a wolf hunter. Wolves hunt around the area and are considered dangerous since, the neighbors along with the family raised sheep. This is a breath-taking documentary. |

[edit] Ju Oh SeiFilled with daring characters that exceed their personal comfort zones, in order to win the game of “Survival of the Fittest”, this
is an Anime you will not want to miss out on! Though the plot may be slightly saddening for some, the intense emotional and
action-filled scenes will make even the faint of heart come running back for more. |
[edit] I Love My Younger SisterWarning: This is not for viewers who do not want to acknowledge the subject of incest. This is the story of a brother who falls in love with his twin sister, and all the consequential events that follow – this just being a oneshot OVA, onlookers of this Anime should note that the Manga this is based upon, includes more detail and description of the storyline than not. Regardless of these downfalls, “I Love My Younger Sister” is quite heart-warming, as the emotions portrayed through both the brother’s and the sister’s actions and words are deep and powerful. This is a must watch – for those who are interested! |
[edit] Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na - Crescent LoveThis is an adorable Anime about two childhood acquaintances falling in love after many years of separation. As the Moon Princess and the man from Earth pursue their relationship, many tragic episodes befall them, making the storyline quite “interest-capturing”. The beautiful animation and strong character development make this Anime a mustwatch for the summer break! |
[edit] Welcome to the NHK!I’d like some insane paranoia with a side order of talking kitchen appliances and conspiracy theories, please! The epitome of otaku / hikkikomo(social withdraw) attitudes unite in this strange, yet amusing anime. With an unusual storyline and characters that will have your own self thinking about whether something is really as it seems, this show is one-of-a-kind, and not to be missed! |

[edit] Tokyo Juliet (CDrama)
Genre: Romance & Fashion Episodes: 17 Starring: Ariel Lin, Wu Zun & Simon Yam. 3.7 out of 5
Alright, I am going to attempt to write a plot summary
on this drama all by myself, so here goes...
Lin Lai Sui met a young boy, one night, at a dinner
party when she got lost. He helped calm her down and
complimented her long, black hair, saying that it was very
pretty, like a doll's. From then on, Sui kept her hair long just
for him.
Then, at the age of 5, Sui had drawn the "Daisy" design for
her mother (since her mother's favorite flower was the
daisy). However, life turned upside down for Sui when her
Daisy design was stolen from her by Chu Xing, a famous
designer. Her family then tore apart when her parents
divorced. Sui vowed to one day surpass Chu Xing in the fashion world and to never
fall in love until she does. But then she met Liang, who would help her throughout
her goal. But there were somethings about Liang that Sui did not know...
How was that? Meh...I tried.
Now for the review part:
I overall enjoyed watching this series. The storyline was pretty good and I really like
the whole fashion theme. There were, however, some bad points (to me):
- This series moved very fast. So many things happened in the beginning (up to
episode 3 or 4) which caused the middle to drag a little.
- Seems like every time Sui and Liang are finally together, someone else will pop
out of no where and start ruining their relationship. Seriously, go find someone
who's NOT already in a relationship to bother. Throughout this drama, I might have
seen about 5 or more people trying to steal either Sui or Liang away and it got quite
annoying.
- Wu Zun, Liang's Actor...hmm....It's not a big deal or anything, but it bothered me a
little. His hair and his clothes. His hair was too long -.-' and his clothes were way too
tight. His acting is okay (he is just starting out with this drama so I can give him a
break there) but him trying to "cry" at the sad scenes, big no no. All he really does is
scrunch his face, shake his head, and make "crying" sounds. I can immediately see
how fake it was...
- Chu Xing, evil bastard >.< There's almost no end to his little schemes to ruin Sui
and her chance in the fashion world. Then he goes around lying his way out of
everything.
That's all I can think of right now with the cons. But even with them, I still enjoyed
watching this show and I liked most of the cast.
I do recommend this series, if you're not the type to freak out when things go bad
(cause things go wrong many times in this one!).

[edit] Porno Graffitti - Link (Single)
Nearly a year after releasing the album m-CABI, Porno Graffitti is back with a new single. Released on July 18, Link is the band's 24th single.
Expressing my love for this band to someone who has either just started listening to Jrock or isn't familiar with Jrock at all guarantees amusing reactions. More often than not, they think I'm talking about t3h nekkid ladies. However, in all actuality, Porno Graffitti is a band that was formed when the members were in high school. The line up includes Okano Akihito (vocals and acoustic guitar) and Shindou Haruichi (guitar). There was a third member, Shiratama Masami (bass); however, he left the band in 2004. Porno Graffitti has been greatly influenced by a number of western artists: Sly & The Family Stone, Radiohead, Billy Joel, Madonna, and Eric Clapton, to name a few.
Anime fans might be familiar with Porno Graffitti due to the fact that a number of their songs have been used as theme songs. Melissa, for example, was Fullmetal Alchemist's first opening. Hitori No Yoru was an opening song in Great Teacher Onizuka and Winding Road was an ending theme in Ayakashi Ayashi.
The first song on the single is Link. I really like this song a lot. I'm not sure how to explain it, but if you're a fan of Porno Graffitti, then you'll know what I'm talking about: there's a certain sound that they have and, although sometimes this means that certain songs will sound rather similar to each other, I love it. Link is a rather upbeat song, which is nice because the other two songs on the single get progressively slower.
Stand for one's wish is the second song and it's yet another great song. It's nowhere near a ballad, but it is a tiny bit mellower than Link. This song brings to mind some indie Jrock/alternative bands. It's also slightly shorter than the average song - just over three minutes.
The single ends with It's on my mind, a fairly slow song in which an acoustic guitar is very prominent. Although I'm a fan of Porno Graffitti's upbeat, faster songs, their slower songs are always extremely lovely. I consider their more pop-rock songs to be great driving songs, whereas songs like It's on my mind are excellent songs to wind down to. It's songs like this that are better to listen to on your own (whether it's while drifting off to sleep, listening to your ipod, etc.) rather than cranking up the volume on your radio as you drive down the highway.
At the end of August, Porno Graffitti will be releasing their ninth album.

[edit] Sayonara Sad Sensei
Earlier this month the anime adaptation of Kumeta Kohji's Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei premiered and immediately became a fan favorite. While I wouldn't say its popularity is quite like the phenomenon that was Ouran, it certainly has gained attention very quickly and appears to be loved by everyone that has seen it, which is particularly surprising, given what the series is about.
Sayonara Sad Sensei made its debut in 2005 and tells the tale of just that: an extremely depressed teacher who tries to commit suicide. I was rather taken aback when I saw that one of the genres given for the manga was comedy. What on earth could possibly be so funny about this? I wondered. The summary had captured my interest, although I wasn't expecting, nor did I want, a comedy series.
To be honest, the anime appeals to me more, just because there are a myriad of references to other anime series and many, many jokes that weren't included in the manga. Apart from the exclusion of anime references, though, the anime follows the manga very closely and, even without those references and all the subtle jokes (such as those written on the chalkboard, signs, etc.) it still remains very funny.
One thing in particular that sets this series apart for me is the artwork. I think it's wonderful and so, so beautiful.
Kumeta Kohji's other series are definitely not short: Katteni Kaizo ended with 26 volumes and Yuke!! Nangoku Ice Hockey-bu finished with 23. With Sayonara Sad Sensei currently at nine volumes, I think it's safe to assume there's still much more to come.

[edit] Google Data Grinder
What does Google want? Having successfully become our personal librarian; Google now wants to be our personal oracle!
It wants to learn all about us, know us better than we know ourselves, to transform itself from a search engine into a psychoanalyst's couch or a priest's confessional. Google chief executive, Eric Schmidt, wants Google to be able to tell all of us what we want. To proceed, Google must try to find a way to know more about us as the most important aspect of Google's expansion.
The next stage is a personalized Web service called iGoogle, which Schmidt regards as the key to knowing us better. iGoogle is growing into a tightly-knit suite of services -- personalized homepage, search engine, blog, e-mail system, mini-program gadgets, Web history browsing, etc. -- that together will create the world's most intimate information database. On iGoogle, we all get to aggregate our lives, consciously or not, so artificially intelligent software can sort out our desires. It will piece together our recent blog posts, where we've been online, our e-commerce history, and cultural interests. It will amass so much information about each of us that eventually it will be able to logically determine what we want to do tomorrow and what job we want.
The real question, of course, is whether what Google wants is what we want too. Do we really want Google digesting so much intimate data about us?
Could iGoogle actually be a remix of "1984's" Room 101 -- the Orwellian dystopia in which our most secret desires and most repressed fears are revealed?
[edit] Logical Fallacies and Your BrainBy: Moose17 The Culprit: Begging The Question What it means: In a nutshell begging the question is basically circular reasoning. Specifically, it is any form of argument in which the conclusion occurs as one of the premisses, or a chain of arguments in which the final conclusion is a premiss of one of the earlier arguments in the chain. By stating in the end what the original statement was, they have a circular reasoning. How to beat it: It’s really easy to beat. You don’t call something a logical fallacy for no reason. Logical fallacies have no logic in them; they don’t make sense. Since begging the question is essentially circular reasoning, you should have no problem because it contradicts itself. Le Example: To cast abortion as a solely private moral question,…is to lose touch with common sense: How human beings treat one another is practically the definition of a public moral matter. Of course, there are many private aspects of human relations, but the question whether one human being should be allowed fatally to harm another is not one of them. Abortion is an inescapably public matter. Source: Helen M. Alvaré, The Abortion Controversy, Greenhaven, 1995, p. 23. Analysis |
[edit] Licensing Companies & Why You Need To Respect Them
They’re serious business!
Oh noes! Another show got licensed, Shinji must remove it from the site! Noooooo! Why does Shinji have to take it down? Why does [Cutie-Cutie-Kitties] Fansubs have to drop the show! Why!? WHY!? WHY!? They could just not care about those damned licensing companies, they won’t do a thing. They’re practically harmless. They can’t do anything, they won’t do anything! I know it!
What is licensing anyways?
Licensing is when a company in America has rights to a show, in this case it’s the show, Happy Happy Fun
Fun Lolipop Pal Club Tokyo. When a company has rights to a show in America, this means it’ll be distributed
in America, not necessarily on TV, but also released on DVD’s. Oh we all know dubs aren’t the greatest
things, but they decide that they’ll try to profit from ugly ol’ dubs and decide to license them so nobody will
distribute subs, hoping to gain more profit (greedy bastards!)
Will licensing companies take action?
With profit in mind, hell yeah they will. As many of you Death Note fans know, the licensing company for
Death Note contacted all the fansubbers telling them to stop. When they said that, they meant serious
business. The last two episodes were subbed by “other” groups anyways. But even so, you should respect
them because they do far worse. They’ve shut down a few fansubbing sites (they got other domains later on),
and have done other things too. They can resort to suing the fansub team also.
Why must it be taken off of CR?
Licensing companies pose the same threat to websites that host shows. They will also resort to shutting down
the site, and may also sue, just like they would to a fansub group. And you don’t want this stuff to happen to
CR and Shinji do you? No.
Hokie’s View on Licensing
Dubs aren’t the best things in the world, and I’m sure they’d make more money if they hired good voice
actors, which they don’t do…. The majority of the time… And why the hell did you have to LICENSE CODE
GEASS, HUH!? WHY!? I was waiting for the last 2 episodes for like 2 or so months+ and than right when it’s
close to airing, you license it. You sick bastards, do you enjoy doing these things? At the last minute? Huh!?
HUH!? WELL -------

[edit] A Japanese Kafka?: Haruki MurakamiBy Henz_lan Haruki Murakami (born 12th January, 1949) is a highly acclaimed surrealist author. He has, to date, written 12 novels, a non-fiction work (Underground) about the Aum Shinrikyo gas attack, and numerous short stories. His Story Born in Kyoto, Murakami spent most of his childhood in Kobe with his parents. After graduating from Waseda University in Tokyo Murakami opened a jazz bar, Peter Cat, with his wife, Yoko. His literary career began in 1979 with the novel Hear the Birds Sing, which won the Gunzou Literature Prize. This novel and its successors, Pinball 1973 (1980) and A Wild Sheep Chase (1982, winner of the Noma literary prize), formed the Trilogy of the Rat. He wrote three more books in Japan before emigrating to the USA in 1991 to teach at Princeton University. Here he wrote a further three books, returning to Japan in 1995 after the Kobe Earthquake and the Tokyo gas attack. In Japan he continued to write novels and became the sixth winner of the Franz Kafka Prize in 2006. He is tipped to win the Nobel Prize for literature in the not so distant future. I addition to writing his own works Murakami has translated, into Japanese, works by authors he admires. These include stories by Raymond Carver and John Irving. His Stories Murakami has been called many things, among them "Franz Kafka's Successor" (Sunday Herald on The Elephant Vanishes) stands out as being the most congratulatory. This interpretation of Murakami's work as an author does not give him the credit he deserves, far from being anyone's successor he is the creator of a genre in his own right. His stories, written in the same matter-of-fact that Raymond Carver so famously employed, reach inside society, showing the human side to issues such as death (A Wild Sheep Chase) and marital relations (South of the Border, West of the Sun, 1992). Murakami has been criticized for writing "pop" (popular) literature. His works are just that, "pop", they are a mirror modern society, which is in itself ruled by things which are "pop". Labelling Murakami as "pop" is not a criticism, it is a form of praise, it indicates how well he has integrated his writing into current society and how well the modern readership associates with the subjects he chooses to write about. In addition to his skill in portraying modern society, Murakami is constantly drawn towards the supernatural. From an insomniac to an elephant factory none of his works portray his versatility at combining the natural and the absurd better than The Elephant Vanishes (1993). This collection of short stories, one of which was originally published in Playboy, draws the reader into the lives of many different characters in a matter of a couple of pages, each considering a different life issue, each leaving the reader in awe of Murakami's skill as a writer. [edit] Recipies: Teh Tarik(Milk Tea) and Steam Egg Cakes
Article written by eamiru07Teh Tarik(Milk Tea)
Ingredients:
- 2 tea bags [Lipton / brand where the tea will appear to have a clear dark brown colour]
- Creamer [if you like]
- Sugar [as you like]
- Ice [if you want to have it cold]
- 300 ml Hot water
- 300 ml milk
How to Make It:
1. Firstly prepare the usual tea, but wait until the hot water turns the water to have a clear dark brown colour...
2. Pour the milk to the huge can or glass or container.
3. Pour the creamer as well.
4. Put sugar in, suggested amount is 5 spoons of sugar.
5. Stir it, until the sugar melt.
6. Next, ready with another same size can or glass or container.
7. Hold each can/glass/container in each hand. Bring the can/glass/container with the milk-tea high up and pour it down into the empty can/glass/container to and fro. (The purpose of doing so is to incorporate air into the milk-tea)
8. Repeat step 7 for 2-3 times, until the surface of the milk-tea becomes light-foamy...
9. Now you can serve your milk-tea hot or cold with preference to your choice.
Steam Egg Cakes
[Note: in every one bowl of flour, you must have one bowl of eggs [white and yellow mix], and one bowl of sugar so the ratio is 1:1:1 – flour:eggs:sugar. The size of the bowl is so that you can put 15 eggs [white and yellow mix]!]
Ingredients:
- 1 Bowl of flour
- 1 Full bowl of egg
- 1 Bowl of sugar
- Two tea spoon of baking powder/soda [you can use sprite or white carbonate water]
- Milk chocolate [can use thick: 10 spoon of chocolate; 200 ml of water]
How to Make It:
1. Prepare the steamer first!
2. Mix the egg first, until it is foamy.
3. Put in sugar, and mix again using a mixer on high speed for about 10 mins.
4. Slow down your mixer to the lowest speed and put flour in, bit by bit.
5. Put in baking powder/soda/ 6 spoons carbonate water and milk.
6. Mix it for about 15 mins.
7. Now separate a little bit of the mixture into a small cup/bowl.
8. Add a spoon of chocolate and mix by hand.
9. Put the largest amount of the mixture [the white one] into Cake dish
10. Now decorate your cake with the chocolate mixture.
11. Steam it for about 25-30 mins...
12. Now your Steamed cake is ready!

[edit] Interviews
[edit] Main Interviews
|
Suicider Interviewed by animestudz Studz: Ready, Go - Why do you want to upload all the newest anime first? Sui: Its not really that I want to, they're just anime that I watch myself. I just upload them because I'm watching the episode at the same time. I usually get recent releases within 15-20 minutes, so its not really of a hassle. Studz: How does it feel to be probably the most popular uploader among the new[er] members? Does it bring disadvantages or advantages? Sui: To tell you the truth it gets annoying and awkward at times. The annoying parts comes with people sending me buddy requests and questions like "When is the next episode of (Inset anime name) coming out." If they just took the time to read my profile once in a while, they'll know the answers to them already. The awkward part comes in with people sending me random pm with thanks. Although I appreciate them, I don't really know why they're doing that, I just upload. The real thanks should go the fansubbers, who take their time subbing them for those who enjoy anime. Studz: Speaking about fansubbers, what is your view on asking permission for getting their subs on here [anime-wise]? Do you think any anime fansubber minds their works on here? Sui: Anime-Wise, the only fansub I know of that has asked not to put their subs onto streaming sites is DB
(Dattebayo). Although I don't want to go onto how crappy their attitude is, the reason they wont allow stream
sites to not allow their releases onto them is quite stupid, considering that fansubs are for the general public.
Most subbing groups, particularly new ones are quite small and are relatively unknown throughout the anime
universe, so I don't think they wouldn't mind their hard work being released to the public. If they don't like it,
then why sub in the first place? Studz: I'm sure some of them are just scared of legal issues about subbing copyrighted work but you also have a good point. Since I also asked what do you think about the new mods I'll ask you Which is your favourite mod? Sui: Most of the time when a series becomes licensed, the subbers stop that particular series. So, it doesn't really become an issue, however as I remember it, I believe that all the groups who were subbing Death Note received a letter of termination from the licensor. While "officially" they did stop, releases still came out from other unknown groups (possibly the same group, under a different name). Well back to the question, actually I don't really know exactly, out of the new mods, it would have to be meiskan, she's just great. Studz: Oh Thanks, I feel loved. Anyway thanks for the great interview and be sure to check it out =) Sui: lol, don't worry, you are loved (in a not sexual manner). If that's it then, your welcome. More uploads to
come! *Starlight Breaker! |

Kris07: By the request of my mother and the approval of the other Onigiri Staff Members, you have been selected to be the interviewee. Do you accept? Catex: o_0 What will happen if I don't? Will your mother beat the crap out of me? Actually, who's your mother? Kris07: If you don't then you'll let all of CR down. I have no idea what my mother (moox_y) will do to you. Catex: Fanbloodytastic. She'd stab my forehead with an umbrella if I don't do this. In that case, let's start your interview. Kris07: lol, How are you? Catex: Gutted. Just found out that I'd not be in England for a gig I wanted to attend for ages. See profile for the explanation. For the interview: All right. lol OK, what do you know about me? Kris07: Nothing. It was up to The Onigiri staff who I interviewed. And they all agreed on you. Catex: Nice one. Thanks. Kris07: Would you like "Gutted. Just found out that I'd not be in England for a gig I wanted to attend for ages. See profile for the explanation." to be edited out? Catex: You're the interviewer, therefore you get to decide to portray me however you want: A) Gutted as fuck, or Image All right. Mates are laughing at me, so might as well to go with A) for the sake of entertainment. So. You don't do research on your victims? Kris07: I was under the impression that this was research. lol, Do you have the patience to wait until December? Catex: Oh, I do. It's just that there is a little problem: I'm leaving England for Japan this (provisionally) November. Kris07: What for? How long? Catex: University, family and other reasons. Right now I'm more interested in CR and uploading whatever I have to CR. Kris07: Speaking of CR, How would you run the site if you were Shinji? Catex: Did I ever tell you that BasouKazuma has just died? And that I'm a spirit channeller? Kris07: How'd Basou die? Catex: The horn of Redgarnettk's unicorn got him in the eye. Or maybe it was when I set my rabies-infected brother on him. Not too sure. I was high on Tippex fumes that night. Kris07: How'd you become a spirit channeler? Catex: I didn't. I'm an extension of BK who in turn is an extension of a personality called Shinji. Kris07: Does it pay well? Catex: No idea. I'm too busy killing stupicorns. |
[edit] Mini Interviews
Question by animestudz
Issue 4 question: What do you think of the new mods?
BasouKazuma
They're not all over me like I thought they would be :( Yea, I'm really vain like that. Other than that, they're doing a fine job. Being a mod just takes time and being able to follow other people's examples since the older mods have already devised many plans for how things should be run.
manzi
I think they're pulling their hair out dealing with IQ draining threads, created by noobs and the noobish at heart... sometimes I am amused by their complaints and wonder why in the world did you apply for mod status if you're just gonna bitch about the things you had to do...? I guess it's natural despite their attainment of demi-god status in Crunchy they're also human, just like you and me...
It's a tough job being a mod and I commend their efforts in keeping Crunchy safe from turning into a noobish hell... If it were me heads will roll and offenders will get a temporary account ban and IP ban for repeat offenders...
whatsome
First of all, thank you for choosing me to be part of the interview for the Onigiri.
Well, they are active, that’s for sure. They just recently became mods; as of now, they are actually fulfilling their expected responsibilities in order to give the impression of being rightfully suited for what position they have in CR.
They have patience for dealing with question or repeated questions from members daily, keeping an eye on the forum games, etc. They have a sense of humor, politeness, respect, and based of knowledge about what’s going on CR and other CR related stuffs (such as Site
Support/Help, Duplicates/Wrong Tags/Corrupt Videos, Glitch Discussion, and others).

Honestly I havent Checked who are the New and Old Mods (Sorry for the Comment). From what I noticed some of the Mods are actively Updating and maintaining the site and Forums... And its a nice thing to have a active Mods keeping things in order.

Doing a pretty good job, inapp. threads r locked, media mods approve videos periodically and fix any mistakes the uploaders make, overall a pretty good job.
Suicider
Personally, I think that the new mods are great, even though that several people don't agree with some of the people chosen. However they were hoping to become mods themselves and didn't get chosen. Moderators are the backbone of CR, they help run and maintain it, and so long as they're dedicated, hardworking and friendly (at times) then we all benefit.
Moon_River
Honest speaking, i think the new mods are really doing their job very well but i can't say anything about media mod as i don't really know when are they media modding but i think slowdanse is is one of the best new forum mod as i see her most of the time at the forum section. Anyway, thanks so much for helping out Crunchy and thanks for the survey.
Issue 5 Question: If you could be reborn as another person; who would you choose and why?
